Tutor

At the Chair of Epidemiology at the TUM School of Medicine and Health (Department of Health and Sport Sciences), Technical University of Munich (Head: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Stefanie Klug), a position as Tutor for Biostatistics II (Student Assistant) (m/f/d) is available starting 1 October 2026, with a workload of 6 hours per week, initially limited until 28 February 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting the tutorial sessions accompanying the lecture “Biostatistics II”
  • Organizational support

Requirements

  • Excellent understanding of the fundamentals of statistics (descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, linear regression, analysis of variance)
  • Excellent German language skills
  • Enjoyment of explaining concepts and answering questions
  • Ability to work in a team, commitment, independence, reliability, and flexibility

Master’s Thesis Opportunity

Title: Pregnancy-related surgeries in adolescents at Mexican public hospitals

Background:

This master’s thesis will analyse an existing database on pregnancy-related surgeries among female adolescents in Mexican public hospitals. The analysis will be based on hospital registry data covering the years 2010-2022. The data are already available, allowing the project to start immediately. These data have previously been used for an analysis addressing a different research question, which has been published:

Tasks

  • Literature review on the topic

  • Development of specific research questions

  • Statistical analysis of a large national hospital registry in R

  • Evaluation and interpretation of the results

  • Independent preparation of the master’s thesis with academic supervision

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a master’s program in Health Sciences (MHS), Public Health (MPH), Epidemiology, or a related field

  • Very good knowledge of statistics

  • Experience with data analysis in R
