Dr. Höchsmann has joined our team in November 2021. Following the completion of his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in "Exercise and Health Sciences" at the University of Basel, Christoph completed his doctorate in sports science in 2018, also in Basel. The title of his dissertation was "Mobile Exergaming in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus - innovative ways to overcome physical inactivity and increase exercise adherence".
During the last almost three years, from January 2019 to September 2021, Christoph worked as a postdoc at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge (Louisiana, USA), and he was supported by an NIH T32 Fellowship. At Pennington, his work focused on technology-based methods to assess dietary intake, mechanisms of exercise-induced weight compensation, and predictors (and mediators) of successful weight loss (and treatment of cardiometabolic risk factors) in the context of a pragmatic, multi-center lifestyle intervention.
As a research assistant in our team, Christoph will be involved in various research projects as well as teaching.
