EUROCON 25: Joint International Conference at the TUM Campus Olympiapark
From March 14 to 16, 2025, EUROCON 25 took place at the TUM Campus Olympiapark, bringing together two international conferences: CONNECT 2025 and the EUROPE CONFERENCE of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA Eurocon 2025). As part of this joint event, CONNECT 2025 was organized by the Associate Professorship of Conservative and Rehabilitative Orthopedics at the Technical University of Munich.
The CONNECT Congress (Connective Tissue in Sports Medicine) is held every four years and took place at TUM for the second time in 2025. It focuses on the role of fascia, tendons, and other connective tissues in training, rehabilitation, and sports medicine. International experts presented current research findings, and more than ten research groups presented projects addressing connective tissue in athletic training, rehabilitation, and human health.
The congress was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Thomas Horstmann, Head of the Associate Professorship of Conservative and Rehabilitative Orthopedics, together with Torsten Pohl, research associate, in cooperation with the Fascia Research Charity Association, led by Prof. Dr. Robert Schleip. Prof. Dr. Schleip is a senior scientist at the Associate Professorship of Conservative and Rehabilitative Orthopedics and an internationally recognized researcher in the field of fascia research.
Prof. Dr. Horstmann stated:
“We are pleased to host two internationally oriented conferences at our new campus location at the Olympiapark and to provide a platform for interdisciplinary scientific exchange.”
At the same time, the EUROPE CONFERENCE of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Chapter Germany, also known as NSCA Eurocon 2025, was held in Germany for the first time under the leadership of its president, Prof. Dr. Stephan Geisler. The conference is planned as a biennial event to be hosted in different European countries. It addressed sports scientists and coaches and offered lectures, workshops, and networking opportunities on strength training, conditioning, nutrition, and sports science, with a focus on linking scientific evidence and applied practice. International speakers presented recent developments and applied research findings.
In total, approximately 400 participants from numerous countries attended the joint conference. The combination of both events enabled interdisciplinary exchange and international networking across related scientific and applied fields. According to Torsten Pohl, the two conferences addressed similar target groups and complementary thematic areas, which contributed to productive synergies.
