Follow-up report day 1
Day one of the European Championships 2022 in Munich already saw the first medal decision in gymnastics, with Italy's Asia D'Amato narrowly winning the all-around ahead of Britain's Alice Kinsella and compatriot Martina Maggio.
German gymnasts Kim Bui, Emma Malewski and Sarah Voss managed to finish eighth, 14th and 17th respectively. The women's team also became the fourth nation to qualify for the team final on Saturday.
Germany's Oliver Zeidler won the rowing single despite starting difficulties and goes into Saturday's semifinal as the favorite.
In men's bouldering, Germany's Christoph Schweiger, Yannick Flohé and Alexander Megos qualified for Saturday's semifinals.
Preview Day 2
The second day in Munich focuses especially on cycling.
Track cycling
On Friday afternoon, track cycling will be particularly in demand at the exhibition center.
At 4:30 p.m., the finals of the women's team pursuit and then the men's team pursuit will take place. The favorites here are the team from Germany in the women's race, who secured the qualification victory, and the Dutch in the men's race. The German men are also qualified for the final on Friday with a fifth place on Thursday.
This will be followed by the team sprints for both genders as well as the women's 10km scratch final and the men's 40km points race final. The German women's trio could also prevail here with the best qualifying time, the German men may also compete in the final.
BMX
At the Olympic Hill, the women's final will start around 15:15. After the qualifications on the first day, three Germans (Lara Lessmann, Rebecca Gruhn and Kim Müller) qualified for the round of the best eight. The reigning European champion Nikita Ducarroz from Switzerland and the British Olympic champion Charlotte Worthington are regarded as title favorites here, after they mastered the qualification sovereignly with the average points 82.30 and 81 of a maximum of 99 possible points.
Triathlon - Women
The start of the triathlon competitions on the first weekend will be made by the women at 5:15 p.m. at the Olympic Lake. The bike and run course goes once across the Olympic Park and invites to watch for free.
