August 11 marks the start of the European Championships Munich 2022, Munich's biggest sporting event since the 1972 Summer Olympics. More than 4,700 athletes will compete in nine different sports. A total of 177 gold medals will be awarded.
On day one, four sports will start their competitions and one medal decision will be up for grabs.
Rowing
Already at 9 AM the rowers start their competitions on the Olympic regatta course in Oberschleißheim. The last race of the day is scheduled for 4:20 PM. A total of 53 heats can be seen during this time. A day ticket costs 10 to 25 euros.
Climbing
Also the climbers start already on the first day of the European Championships. At 10 AM the competitions will start at Königsplatz with the qualification in lead climbing of the women. This will be followed by the men's bouldering qualification at 11 AM. Tickets for this event cost 20 euros.
Cycling
In cycling, both BMX and track cycling competitions will start. At 1 PM, the women's BMX freestyle qualification will begin at Olympiaberg. This will be followed by the men's BMX Freestyle qualification at 5 PM. There will be free admission for spectators.
The track cycling competitions will start at 4 PM in exhibition hall C of Messe München. Qualifications in the team sprint and team pursuit for women and men are scheduled. A day ticket for exhibition hall C costs 15 euros.
Gymnastics
The only medal decision of the first day will take place in gymnastics. In the Olympic Hall, both the qualification and the final in the women's all-around will take place between 10 AM and 7:55 PM. Between 20 and 80 euros is a day ticket for this competition.
