With health literacy to equal opportunity
Health literacy describes how people use health information to make informed decisions about health care, disease prevention and health promotion. "Some studies have already shown that low health literacy leads to poorer health care. It therefore has a key role to play in creating equal opportunities for all people in Europe and around the world," explains Prof. Okan. "Since children and adolescents still learn easily and behaviours are not yet too habitualized, this is where we need to start," the health literacy expert continues. His webinar series at EUPHW is therefore all about promoting health literacy among children and adolescents.
