Test of Motor Proficiency Second Edition (BOT-2): recent publication in Frontiers in Pediatrics

In collaboration with Jan Jírovec and Martin Musálek from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University, Prague, Czechia, the current paper in Frontiers in Pediatrics on the topic Compatibility of the Complete and Short Form and Its Usefulness for Middle-Age School Children was published.
The BOT-2 (Bruininks-Oseretzky Test of Motor Proficiency Second Edition) is designed to measure children’s motor skills. The test exists in two forms: BOT-2 short form (SF) and BOT-2 complete form (CF). The study aimed at examining the comparability of results considering the state of psychomotor development in middle-aged students assessed by the BOT-2 SF and the BOT-2 CF when standard values are used taking age and gender into account.
When using a proper scale for comparing both versions, results from the BOT-2 SF do not differ significantly from BOT-2 CF results. In addition, poor specificity of the BOT-SF suggests that the BOT-2 SF might be a useful tool to reveal mainly psychomotorically delayed but not above average (psychomotorically advanced) children. Further, due to the weak portion of a shared common factor, it still remains unclear whether the BOT-2 SF and the BOT-2 CF measure the same behavioral domain.
The research group is currently working on a further publication in this area.
