The FEPSAC conference took place in Innsbruck from July 15 - 19, 2024. The biennial conference of the European Community for Sport Psychology was held this year under the motto “Performance under Pressure” and scientists and applied sport psychologists from different corners of the world came together to present their current research results. The venue was the Innsbruck Exhibition Center, which was centrally located in the middle of the city and offered a picturesque backdrop with the mountain range all around. Felix Ehrlenspiel, Lisa Hepperle and external doctoral student Patrick O'Mara were there from our department.
The official program started on Monday with a keynote speech by Daniel Gould, a luminary of American sports psychology. The other keynotes were held by European researchers and covered a wide range of topics in theoretical and applied sport psychology. It was difficult to choose from the very full and varied range of daily presentations and symposia. In addition, workshops, a science slam, panel discussions and several poster sessions took place throughout the week.
This “family reunion” brought together current and former members of the TUM Department of Sport Psychology, who are now spread across the USA, China and Australia. Networking and exchange are of course central to such an event and, in addition to the scientific program, social activities such as hikes, a football tournament and morning runs were offered. The highlight was of course the conference dinner on the last evening.
Overall, it was a great and inspiring experience to be part of this impressive conference and we returned home with many interesting encounters and impressions as well as new ideas and opportunities for cooperation for future research and are already looking forward to the next FEPSAC in Romania in two years' time.
