As part of the Assessment and Evaluation in Sport Psychology module in the M.Sc. Sport and Exercise Science program, students, under the guidance of Felix Ehrlenspiel and Julia Schwender, once again conducted psychological assessments with the U16 youth teams of the Bavarian Hockey Association. The goal was to practically analyze differential and general psychological factors in athletic performance and to provide players with individual feedback on the “mental side” of their performance during the training camp ahead of the German Championships.
For many athletes, this was the first time they received concrete insights into the psychological aspects of their performance, giving them valuable impulses for their future athletic development. The students also benefited greatly: “For some, it was not only their first time applying psychological knowledge but also their first direct contact with elite sport – such as experiencing the environment at the Oberhaching Sports School,” said Felix Ehrlenspiel.
The project was rounded off with a sport psychology workshop for both squads, delivered by Julia Schwender. Head coach Hermann expressed his gratitude: “The girls played a fantastic tournament and won the title – securing the indoor and outdoor double – something that has never happened before!”
