
Our goal is to promote scientific independence, a sense of responsibility, as well as motivation and competencies for lifelong learning. We regard university teaching as a central element of academic work and as the foundation for sustainable research in exercise and training science.
Our teaching focuses on both fundamental and applied aspects of training science, particularly training planning, control, and monitoring. This is complemented by applied aspects of endurance and strength training, talent identification, game analysis, as well as sport informatics and data-driven methods for analyzing physical activity and athletic performance.
We aim to enable students at an early stage to develop independent, evidence-based thinking and to engage critically with current theories, methods, and research findings in experimental training science. A particular emphasis is placed on the development of methodological competencies, especially the evaluation of different study designs and the analysis of empirical data using statistical methods.
On this basis, students acquire the skills to develop their own research questions, to select appropriate methodological approaches with justification, and to critically evaluate and communicate results in a scientific manner.
The supervision of final theses is an integral part of the chair’s teaching concept. We actively involve students in ongoing research projects and consider them as part of the team. Where the quality permits, it is our goal to publish final theses scientifically.
