We aim to provide a clearly structured supervision process for your final thesis, offering academic, methodological, and organizational support.

The process is structured as follows:

Initial Contact and Topic Selection

If you are interested in writing your thesis at our Chair, please contact us at:

Please indicate which projects you are interested in, or describe your own research idea as specifically as possible. In addition, include a short paragraph about yourself and your motivation. We will get back to you within 14 days.

While we strive to offer supervision to all interested students, limited supervision capacities or insufficient thematic alignment may require a selection process.

Preparation of an Exposé

The exposé serves as the basis for aligning the content and refining the topic. It should include:

• a clearly defined research question or objective,
• an overview of the current state of research,
• the planned methodological approach, and
• a timeline and work plan.

Topic Approval and Formal Registration

After review and, if necessary, revision of the exposé, the topic will be finalized. This is followed by the formal registration of the thesis in accordance with the applicable examination regulations.

Working Phase and Regular Exchange

During the working phase, there will be regular academic exchange between the student and the supervisor. This may take place in the form of meetings and email communication. The objectives are:

• to reflect on the progress of the work,
• to clarify methodological or content-related questions, and
• to provide targeted support in case of challenges.

Responsibility for the content and time management lies with the student.

Compliance with Formal Guidelines

Throughout the entire process, all provided formal guidelines (e.g. citation style, layout, length, and submission format) must be strictly observed. Students are responsible for familiarizing themselves with these requirements at an early stage and implementing them consistently.

Completion and Submission

Once completed, the thesis must be submitted on time and in the required format. In many degree programs, a presentation in a research colloquium is required after submission. The respective examination regulations are decisive.
