MISSION STATEMENT
Building Bridges: Basic Research - Elite-Sports - Prevention
The Associate Professorship of Biomechanics in Sports bothers, on the one hand, biomechanical questions in (competitive) sports that are application-oriented, as well as in medical fields of prevention and rehabilitation sports or ergonomics. On the other hand, there’s a further focus on fundamental research on muscle mechanics and muscular strength, together with the development and conception of performance diagnostics (Research).
The lectures and tutorials provide a comprehensive understanding of biomechanics, from the basics to biomechanical diagnosis in different fields of application, muscle mechanics, and mathematical modeling of muscle and movement simulation. We place a significant emphasis on imparting not just theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills that can be immediately implemented.
Furthermore, an official cooperation agreement with the Olympic Training Center of Bavaria (OSP) ensures a tight interlocking between science and competitive sport. In this particular, the professorship conducts sports performance diagnostics as scientific advice. Besides, the national cross-country skiing and ski-jumping teams of the German Ski Federation (DSV) are scientifically guided during their training.
