Once again this semester, the Bachelor students of Health Sciences at the Technical University of Munich organized two activity afternoons at the end of January as part of the seminar "Special aspects of health in different phases of life". All children of the Bavarian pediatric oncology departments in the ActiveOncoKids Center Bavaria and their siblings between the ages of 6 and 12 were cordially invited to attend. Due to the unfortunately still existing restriction by the Covid-19 pandemic, the events took place again via Zoom. However, we also had a great event virtually, which was a lot of fun for everyone and offered a change from everyday life. The children could participate both during their inpatient stay in a clinic and from home.
After a short introduction and a round of introductions, they each went on an adventurous journey around the world for two hours. A quiz about wild animals and the game "I'm packing my suitcase" offered puzzle fun, for example. On an adventure trip through distant countries, everyone got active in sports. Dances around the world from different cultures and the stop dance were great fun. At the end of the activity afternoon, each child was able to relax with a fantasy journey and quiet relaxation exercises.
As a souvenir, each child received a certificate of participation and an adventure booklet with more tricky puzzles, fun games, exciting stories, delicious recipes, creative handicraft instructions and much more. This adventure booklet is intended to remind the participants of the wonderful time they spent together and to encourage them to remain strong globetrotters.
In summary, there were two successful action afternoons with great experiences and also the students had a lot of fun.
A special thank you to all the children for their great participation in our joint adventure trip around the world. Stay curious, brave and eager to discover!
