Abstract
Research on attentional focus instructions has repeatedly shown the benefits of an external relative to an internal focus of attention for motor performance in various motor tasks and different populations. While the benefits of external focus instructions on motor learning are rather robust, the theoretical perspectives and mediating mechanisms for these beneficial effects continue to be refined and expounded. As such, the recent accounts for the underlying mechanism of attentional focus instructions will be discussed (Abdollahipour et al., 2022).
