"Exercise therapy for childhood obesity" - this is the topic Prof. Dr. Renate Oberhoffer-Fritz, Dean of the Department of Sport and Health Sciences and head of the Chair of Preventive Pediatrics, will lecture on in the course of the 11th Update Nutritional Medicine of the Else Kröner Fresenius Endowment Professorship on October 16, 2021.
The continuing education event for dietitians and nutrition physicians will be held online on October 15 and 16, 2021, and will focus on the following topics:
- Obesity: formulary diets, drug options.
- Psyche: medications as fatteners, eating disorders update, stable eating behavior
- Pediatrics: prevention of pediatric obesity, weight reduction programs, exercise therapy
- Gastroenterology: celiac disease and wheat intolerances, gluten & wheat: dietary recommendations and practical advice
- Nutrition trends: Food for Future, Nudging
- Milk & dairy products: healthy or harmful?
- Histamine Intolerance
The online event will begin on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 2 PM with a welcome by Prof. Dr. Hans Hauner, head of the Department of Nutritional Medicine at TUM. Then, among others, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Watzl from the Institute for Physiology and Biochemistry of Nutrition at the Max Rubner Institute in Karlsruhe and Prof. Dr. Stefan Leucht from the Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at TUM will also give presentations.
On Saturday, October 16, 2021, the 11th Update Nutritional Medicine will start at 9 AM with the lecture "Prevention of Childhood Obesity - Experiences from Austria" by Prof. Dr. Kurt Widhalm from the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical Clinic of Vienna. The lecture by Prof. Dr. Oberhoffer-Fritz is scheduled for 10:00-10:30 AM.
The event will count for 10 points toward continuing education for certificate holders of the DGE, VDD, VDOE, and VFED. For QUETHEB registration, the event will be recognized with 3 points in module F.
The continuing education will be certified with 8 SVDE points. The Bavarian Medical Association awards 11 continuing education points. These points can also be claimed for the Austrian Academy of Physicians.
The participation fee is 105 Euro for non-members, 80 Euro for members, 45 Euro for students and 35 Euro for student non-members.
Reduced participation fees are granted for members of the professional associations and societies AKE Austria, BDEM, DAG, DAEM, DGEM, DGE, DZG, ÖGE Austria, QUETHEB e.V., SGE Switzerland, SVDE, SWAN, VDOE, VDD, VEÖ Austria, Verband der Diätologen Österreichs and VFED.
