Univ.-Prof. Dr. Moritz Schumann ist seit Oktober 2025 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls (W3) für Experimentelle Trainingswissenschaften an der School of Medicine and Health der Technischen Universität München. Er promovierte im Januar 2016 im Fach Biology of Physical Activity an der Universität Jyväskylä (Finnland) und absolvierte anschließend ein Postdoktorat an der Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), wo er weiterhin als Honorary Research Fellow tätig ist. Ende 2016 wechselte er an das Institut für Molekulare und Zelluläre Sportmedizin der Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln. Dort schloss er seine Habilitation ab und erhielt 2022 die venia legendi im Fach „(Klinische) Trainingsphysiologie“. Nach einer Vertretungsprofessur (W3) an der Universität Potsdam am Lehrstuhl für Trainings- und Bewegungswissenschaft, leitete Prof. Schumann von August 2023 bis August 2025 den Lehrstuhl für Sportmedizin und Sporttherapie an der Technischen Universität Chemnitz (W3). Prof. Schumann ist Fellow des American College of Sports Medicine und Mitbegründer und Co-Vorsitzender des europäischen INTERLIVE®-Netzwerks, das sich der Entwicklung von Goldstandards zur Validierung von Wearable-Technologien widmet.
