Prof. Dr. Michael Laxy and his team welcome you on the website of the Professorship of Public Health and Prevention!
The goal of our interdisciplinary team is to generate evidence to support decision making in health care and public health policy to improve population health in a cost-effective and equitable way. Our focus lies on the evaluation of interventions and policies to prevent and manage non-communicable diseases, particularly cardio-metabolic diseases. We further study determinants of population health and socio-economic consequences of lifestyles and related diseases.
For this, we use theories and state of the art empirical methods from the field social, behavioral and health sciences and conduct population-based surveys, randomized trials, quasi-experimental analyses, and model-based simulation studies.
