Laura Suhlrie, a research associate and PhD student from the Professorship of Public Health & Prevention at TUM, attended the 24th German Congress for Health Services Research (DKVF) in Hamburg, Germany, from 22nd – 24th September 2025. Her participation included a presentation of the upcoming publication titled ‘Effectiveness of smartphone application-based interventions to prevent type 2 diabetes mellitus in individuals with prediabetes: A systematic review and meta-analysis’. The paper draws attention and provides evidence on the effectiveness of digital health apps in the prevention of type 2 diabetes in persons with prediabetes through a systematic review and meta-analysis including 18 RCTs.
Held annually, this year the congress focused on five central themes: First, megatrends that address demographic change, staff shortages in nursing, and cross-sectoral care. Second, the digital transformation in healthcare, including artificial intelligence and digital health applications. Third, evidence-based healthcare, which discusses the use of care-related data and mental health. Fourth, methods of healthcare research and future research, offering innovative research approaches and workshops. Finally, shaping the future, where completed and ongoing projects were presented including, among others, projects from the Innovation Fund.
