In a conference organized by the Institute for European Health Policy and Social Law at Goethe University (INEGES) on the topic 'Obesity prevention or weight loss injection? Nutrition, Responsibility and Health', chaired by Prof. Dr. Andrea Kießling (INEGES – Goethe University), several researchers from different universities in Germany presented and discussed a wide range of dimensions regarding obesity, including the epidemiology, ethical, social, and political aspects of the disease and paths to go forward.
Prof. Dr. Michael Laxy presented at the conference a summary of the current trends in obesity and evidence from research and current policies from other countries on cost-effectiveness as well as implications on equity of interventions tackling prevention and management of obesity.
The conference took place on September 20th, 2024 at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and attracted a broad audience, including researchers, lawyers, and representatives of the German health insurance companies in Germany. This diversity in the audience enriched the discussions and gave different perspectives on how obesity could be managed and prevented in Germany.
