WG Quantitative Methods
The working group deals with all phases of the research process in which quantitative methods of empirical social research are applied. This includes the development of quantitative questions, the formulation of hypotheses, the planning of a suitable study design, the implementation of the study as well as the analysis of the collected data and their scientific preparation and presentation. Furthermore, we deal with the basics of classical test theory and the planning and development of tests and questionnaires. For this purpose we use methods of descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, multivariate statistics and methods for determining reliability and validity. Our analyses are based on both primary and secondary data, which are considered cross-sectionally or longitudinally.
In the working group, methodological problems from projects of the chair are discussed and the results of the studies are interpreted collaboratively. Furthermore, we want to promote networking and the exchange among quantitative working researchers of the chair and strengthen our expertise by cooperating with external, quantitative oriented researchers. In addition, we support students with their final theses and doctoral students.
If you have any questions about planning a study, creating questionnaires or analyzing data, please do not hesitate to contact us.
