Social factors play a significant role in the emergence and development of health and disease. Social conditions not only determine the likelihood of disease and premature death, they also influence the chances of maintaining and restoring health. Our research starts at this interface between health and society and investigates the development and course of diseases in the context of social influences as well as the structure and function of health care. These scientific findings are important for health science activities as well as for health policies, as they contribute to an improvement in the prevention and therapy of diseases.
