WG Prevention and Health Care Research
Questions of prevention and health care research address challenges of the German health care system with an interdisciplinary approach.
In this way, knowledge from sociology, psychology, health sciences and medicine is incorporated into the various research projects. The aims of both research disciplines are to gain knowledge on questions of equity of health care, the effectiveness of interventions, health risks and health-promoting factors.
Our working group is dealing with the processes, mechanisms and outcomes of health care and their intermediary influencing variables. In particular, we investigate the effects of health care structures on psychosocial health and other outcomes in patients. Further focus is placed on the development and implementation of interventions regarding behavioural and conditional prevention in different settings. In all questions, special attention is paid to the analysis of health inequalities and the possibilities of reducing these inequalities through appropriate prevention and care concepts. For this purpose, we use both qualitative and quantitative research methods in the working group.
The working group focuses on the following subject areas:
- Social inequalities in health care
- Use of services of the health care system
- Evaluation of health care structures
- Patient-Reported Outcomes – PROs
