Torsten M. Bollweg is researching the health literacy of children. In particular, he is investigating how subjective health literacy, i.e. the perceived difficulty of dealing with health-related information, can be measured in children aged 9 to 10 years and how unequal living environments affect the acquisition of health literacy over the life course.
As a research assistant, he was responsible for the MoMChild research project from 2016-2018 and then for the follow-up project HL-Kids-NRW from 2018 to 2022. Both projects are sub-projects of the ‘Health Literacy in Childhood and Adolescence’ (HLCA) research network.
He currently holds the role of ‘external evaluator’ for the Schools4Health research network together with Dr Denise Renninger and Prof. Dr Orkan.
Torsten Bollweg studied educational science at Goethe University Frankfurt and Bielefeld University, where he also completed his doctorate in 2024 on the measurement of health literacy in childhood.
