For the 6th time TUM Young Academy, a program for scholarship holder with high affinity to science, organized the TUM campus run. All members of the TUM family (students, employees, alumni) were allowed to take place as single runner or in a team on a distance of 5.5k or 11k. The Chair of Sport and Health Management took part in the chair challenge and started with Prof. Koenigstorfer, PhD students, team assistant, and undergraduate assistants together with a total of 1,570 runners.
When the starting signal was given at 3pm, the weather was perfect for running: 18 degrees, sun with clouds and no rain. The TUM campus run started in front of the faculty for chemistry, continued to Dietersheim, where the 11k runners continued to the north and the 5.5k runners continued to the east. At the waterside of the Isar, both tracks came together again and followed the way to the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft. Afterwards there was the final sprint and finishing line at the buildings of the faculty of mathematics/informatics. Prof. Koenigstorfer finished first, followed by Jan Milan Meyer and Mirjam Eggers. At the finish, the runners were supplied with bananas, muesli and water.
Since 2015 the student council organizes a May event at TUM. Besides the obligatory May tree, there was a party tent, brass band music and Bavarian food provided. Our team said cheers in the party tent after the run and participated in the award ceremony, where Prof. Koenigstorfer won an award as third fastest male professor of TUM.
