The B2Run was hosted on July 18, 2013 at the Olympic park in Munich. The weather conditions were perfect for the running event. Besides celebrities like Joey Kelly and Henry Maske, the team of the Department of Sport & Health Management was taking part among 30,000 participants. Prof. Dr. Jörg Königstorfer, Katja Bartsch, Mirjam Eggers, Navina Fenzl, Wojtek Kulczycki, Rebecca Pfitzner and Felix Wemmer gave their best finishing the track with a distance of 6.5 kilometers. The 60.000 shoelaces were not only tied tightly for health and company purposes, but also for the social cause „running to help children“. For each kilometer ran at the B2Run the company pays 10 cents to the donations that were initiated by the foundation „RTL - we help children“.
The department’s team performance – i.e., a running time of 33 minutes (arithmetic average) – reveals the talent and ambition of the team members; the small standard deviation (4 minutes) between each team member’s finish time shows the team spirit and homogeneity. At the end of the event at about 9.45 pm, the organizers surprised the runners with an amazing firework over the roof of the Olympic stadium: a successful closing of the running event.
