During his visit the focus for Wojtek Kulczycki was laying, besides the work on his own ongoing projects, especially on the cooperation with professors of the Haas School of Business. The aim of the research was to examine the consequences of corruption in sports in particular in the context of the recent development of the FIFA corruption scandal. Furthermore the participation in several PhD seminars of the department and a faculty wide research colloquium supported his academic development and allowed him a deeper insight into the current research projects of different faculties and the applied innovative research methods.
Besides the daily academic work, there was also enough time to get to know and to enjoy the “Californian way of life”. San Francisco, one of the most dynamic and diverse cities of the west coast is basically around the corner and the Bay Area offers lots of opportunities for different outdoor activities. As various professional sport teams of the region compete in the highest leagues of NBA (Basketball), NFL (Football), and MLB (Baseball), a visit of the games or sport facilities also gave a good impression about the professional sport management in the United States.
