At the official ceremony of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program at TUM on June 26, 2013, the Minister of State, Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, submitted the certificates of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program. Katja Bartsch who is writing her Bachelor thesis at the Department of Sport & Health Management received one of the renowned scholarships.
After the official welcoming by Prof. Regine Keller, Vice President of Studies and Teaching at TUM, Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, Bavarian Minister of State for Science, Research and Art, solemnly held a speech and submitted the certificates to the scholars. The Minister of State pointed out that graduates owe their professional success to their university and that they should return something in exchange. „This thought is motor of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program and we are on our way to establish a scholarship culture in Germany,“ Heubisch proclaimed.
Since 2011 the Federal Government and private sponsors support students whose career path can be expected to lead to extraordinary performances in studies and profession after having obtained a Deutschlandstipendium. Katja Bartsch has already worked as Project Manager for Siemens AG for four years after she had finished her dual study program in Business Administration with focus on marketing and sales. At the same time, Katja Bartsch finished a master study program in Business Administration that she completed with the award „Best Student, Class of 2011“.
Both TUM students and partners in industry share in the benefits of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program. It enables young talents to tap their potential and puts industry partners early on in contact with highly qualified specialists and leaders of tomorrow. The traditionally close ties of the TUM to industry partners and civic-minded foundations have made it an exceptionally successful participating member of the scholarship program. „This commitment pays off for both scholars and universities and last but not least for the science and business location Bavaria as a whole,“ Heubisch declared.
