Dr. Felix Wemmer

Professional career
Felix Wemmer graduated in Economics (B.Sc.) at LMU Munich. He completed his master´s degree (M.Sc.) in Economics at the University of Regensburg and finished an IST education program in Sport Management. Felix Wemmer is active hiker, runner and cross country skier. He did internships at several sports clubs and is PhD Student at the Chair of Sport and Health Management since the beginning of 2013. In 2014, he was visiting researcher at the North Carolina State University. In 2015, he won the New Researcher Award of the European Association for Sport Management. In April 2017 Felix Wemmer completed successfully his dissertation entitled "Essays on Open Innovation in Non-Profit Sports Clubs".
Research interests
Building on the underlying ideas of open innovation, Felix’s research examines service and process innovations in non- and for-profit sport organizations. The aim of his research activities is (1) to give management boards implications on what to consider when implementing new services, and (2) to find out what characteristics the environment and what capabilities managing bodies themselves have to fulfill, in order to be able to successfully introduce new services in their organization.
