On the initiative of the Deans of Studies, Prof. Dr. Jörg Königstorfer (bachelor's & master's) and Prof. Dr. Filip Mess (teaching profession), the faculty has, for the first time, organized a "Teaching Day" on Friday, May 10. Approximately 50 lecturers took part and discussed the pros and cons of the courses of studies with the respective directors of the degree programs.
"The idea was to create an interactive forum in an informal setting in order to develop ideas and to be able to debate with one another informally. The goal is to achieve excellence in teaching," explains Prof. Königstorfer. For each course of studies, stations were arranged where information was made available, such as for example involving module structures or capacity calculations.
"The resonance which Teaching Day had on the teachers confirms the significance of this format. I believe we were also able to obtain important suggestions for improving our courses of studies in the controversial discussions," concludes Prof. Mess.
A goal is to repeat the Teaching Day annually in the future. According to the two Deans of Studies, plans have been made to also more intensively involve students.
Reaccreditation of the Courses of Studies
In the fall, the process of reaccreditation for the courses of studies of the faculty will begin. Here, a circle for quality management will be formed with the two Deans of Studies, representatives in quality management, students, as well as external experts from European universities and employers. "The initial suggestions obtained during the Teaching Day will provide prominent, targeted reference points for these meetings," concludes Königstorfer.
