The Human Physiology & Prevention Lab is a core lab for primary prevention and cooperative research on physical activity and health.
Portfolio
The methodological portfolio for measurements in the Human Physiology & Prevention lab includes various sports science as well as medical test procedures and equipment. The spectrum offers ideal conditions to answer numerous questions concerning performance physiology, biomechanics and preventive medicine. In the Prevention Center, these methods can be excellently applied within the framework of interdisciplinary projects. In addition, our diagnostics are often useful complements to other specific projects - whenever movement, stress or everyday activity comes into play!
Research platform
The Core Lab is primarily aimed at (cooperative) research projects and can be used beyond the university boundaries. This also enables private companies to use services of the Core Lab. The use of the research platform (laboratory rooms and/or equipment) is subject to a fee. We will be happy to provide a case number-based quote. Please consider the costs when preparing your application. Special conditions exist for the use within the TUM in the context of doctorates and theses.
Usage options
The Core Facility Prevention Center serves as a research platform for numerous projects.
Here are some examples of how you can carry out your project with us. Please feel free to contact us with your individual research project in order to work out the concrete implementation together.

A research group is working on a project for which special equipment available in the PZ is required and/or the premises of the Core Facility are to be used.
The PZ team provides support in the application process by means of a case number-oriented cost calculation. The special strength of the Core Facility lies in the room equipment, which enables multidisciplinary measurements.
Researchers can, for example, combine their own methods with methods available at the PZ and also set up measurement sections that can be used over the longer term.
This is particularly advantageous for projects in which the test subjects are to pass through various measuring stations.
Advantages of using the Core Facility:
- Cost-efficient operation: Only the actual time of use is calculated, no expensive new acquisitions necessary
- Generous, flexible space
- Extensive equipment portfolio

The PZ also offers optimal conditions for smaller projects of individual scientific institutions.
Frequently, such projects involve the collection of parameters that lie outside the expertise of the respective scientists.
Here, the Core Facility supports the search for suitable partners within or outside the department, who may be involved on a fee basis or even come into question as project partners.
Advantages of using the Core Facility:
- High synergies through PZ-/Department-Network: Required competences can be integrated in an uncomplicated way.
- Low entry barriers: The existing PC infrastructure can usually be used without much preparation.

For PhD projects WITHOUT external funding, the application for funding of the project by the Core Facility must also be completed.
