The Deparment of Sports and Health Sciences considers diversity as a core task and promotes the conscious handling of the diversity dimensions in all action mistakes. For this reason, the "Diversity Prize" is awarded annually for diversity-related scientific theses. This is intended to scientifically strengthen the topic in connection with the areas of sports and health and make it accessible to a broader public in the scientific community.
Until January 8, 2021, excellent final theses (up to grade 1.7) of students of the Department of Sports and Health Sciences can be submitted to the Diversity Officer Andrea Göttler (e-mail: andrea.goettler(at)tum.de, Tel.: 089 289 24694) together with the corresponding report and a short letter of recommendation. The letter of recommendation to be enclosed should in particular illustrate the extent to which the work contributes to the strengthening of diversity-sensitive perspectives in the health and sports sciences.
All scientific papers submitted to the faculty in 2020 are eligible. The prize is awarded for bachelor, master and admission theses as well as dissertations that are examined according to the scientific qualification level.
The Diversity Committee of the Department, consisting of Prof. Dr. Ansgar Schwirtz (Associate Professorship of Biomechanics in sports), Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Wacker (Chair of Sociology of Diversity), the Managing Director Dr. Till Lorenzen, the Gender Equality Officer Dr. Carolina Olufemi and the Diversity Officer Andrea Göttler, decides on the awarding of the prize.
The prize is endowed with up to 2,000 euros and can be awarded to up to three persons. The "Diversity Prize" will be awarded as part of the Absolvia 2021 on February 12 next year. It is not yet clear in which form the award will be presented.
