The Chair of Epidemiology of the Technical University Munich (TUM) of Ordinaria Prof. Dr. Stefanie J. Klug receives funding from the TUM Global Incentive Fund. Together with the Center for Global Health (Prof. Dr. Andrea S. Winkler) and the Professorship of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (Prof. Dr. Marion Kiechle) of the TUM as well as the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, a workshop on cervical cancer is organized in Ghana.
Research and teaching cooperation
During the event the TUM researchers will get to know the Ghanaian team. "First of all we want to see which offers already exist, which demands exist and what is needed", explains Prof. Klug. Moving forward, joint research projects will be initiated and a teaching cooperation established. "KNUST University is a partner university of TUM. Professor Winkler already has good contacts to his colleagues on site," explains Klug.
The workshop is to be held in February 2020. A scientific symposium on "Women's Health" is planned for summer 2020 at the TUM Academy Centre in Raitenhaslach. The researchers of the KNUST University will also participate in the event.
With the TUM Global Incentive Fund, TUM promotes the establishment and deepening of international relations in non-European countries with TUM liaison offices. The fund is endowed with 15,000 euros.
