From March 14 to 16, EUROCON 25 will take place at the TUM Campus in Olympiapark. This event brings together two conferences: CONNECT 2025 and the EUROPE CONFERENCE. As part of the event, CONNECT 2025 is organized by the Associate Professorship of Conservative and Rehabilitative Orthopedics.
The CONNECT Congress, short for “Connective Tissue in Sports Medicine,” is held every four years and will take place at TUM for the second time in 2025. It focuses on the role of connective tissue in training and sports medicine. International experts will present their research, with over ten research groups showcasing projects on fascia in athletic training, rehabilitation, and human health.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Horstmann, head of the Associate Professorship of Conservative and Rehabilitative Orthopedics, and his research associate Torsten Pohl played a key role in organizing CONNECT 2025 in collaboration with the Fascia Research Charity Association, led by Prof. Dr. Robert Schleip. Prof. Dr. Schleip is one of the most renowned fascia researchers and a senior scientist at the Associate Professorship of Conservative and Rehabilitative Orthopedics.
Prof. Dr. Horstmann stated: “We are proud to host these two high-profile international conferences and to showcase our fantastic new home at Olympiapark to the world.”
At the same time, the EUROPE CONFERENCE of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Chapter Germany, also known as NSCA Eurocon 2025, will debut in Germany under the leadership of its president, Prof. Dr. Stephan Geisler. This marks the first European conference of the NSCA, which will be held every two years in different European countries. The event targets sports scientists and coaches, offering lectures, workshops, and networking opportunities on topics such as strength training, conditioning, nutrition, and sports science. Its goal is to bridge the gap between science and practice. The NSCA is sending renowned speakers from around the world to Munich to present the latest developments and practical research findings.
Both conferences provide a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange and networking with leading experts. According to Torsten Pohl, they not only share a similar target audience but also overlapping topics.“ Although the CONNECT Congress is a relatively small event, we have highly distinguished international speakers on-site, some of whom will be speaking at both conferences,” Pohl highlights.
“We hope to achieve two things: first, that top researchers come together to exchange ideas and engage in discussions. Second, that the outstanding research findings reach the professionals who apply them in practice. We want this knowledge to ultimately benefit practitioners,” explains the research associate. This approach is reflected in the program: “Friday and Saturday are highly academic days, while Sunday is dedicated exclusively to practical workshops. Participants will have the opportunity to apply what was previously discussed on a scientific and theoretical level, ensuring they leave the conference with concrete, actionable insights.” A detailed schedule is available here.
Pohl also emphasizes that, in addition to external experts, professors from the department will contribute to the program. Alongside Pohl himself, speakers will include Prof. Dr. Henning Wackerhage, head of the Chair of Sport Biology, Prof. Dr. Karsten Köhler, head of the Assistance Professorship of Exercise, Nutrition, and Health; and Prof. Dr. Robert Schleip.
