By successfully completing the Multimodal Sleep Promotion Trainer seminar, you will gain a trainer qualification that will enable you to competently support individuals and groups in improving their sleep quality and sleep health. The seminar is based on the current state of research and teaches you various practical methods of sleep promotion. This will provide you with a sound basis for your practical work as a trainer for healthy and restful sleep from a mental health perspective.

Basic knowledge:
Physiology and neurobiology of sleep (sleep phases, chronobiology, hormones & neurotransmitters)
models and correlations of sleep, recovery behavior, health and chronic stress
primary and secondary sleep disorders
health effects of sleep deprivation
sleep problems in special target groups such as shift work, young parents, seniors
sleep medication
The three levels of multimodal sleep promotion based on a cognitive-behavioral therapeutic approach:
1. Instrumental: Analyze and adjust external influencing factors: - Create a sleep-promoting environment, sleep hygiene rules, daily routine, exercise, light, diet, bedtime restrictions
2. Cognitive-affective: Identify and change thoughts that hinder sleep - Calm inner "restless spirits", defusion exercises, mindfulness
3. Regenerative: Learning and establishing relaxation - organizing breaks in everyday life, relaxation exercises such as meditation, breathing exercises, sensory and fantasy journeys, progressive muscle relaxation
Fit for practice - didactics and methodology of sleep counseling: conducting conversations, self-awareness with individual methods, role-playing in small groups, case studies, indication/contraindication

1 month self-study via TUM Moodle learning platform using videos and documents provided (calculated 3 hours per week videos and processing time)

Self-study with instructional videos, script documents, worksheets and practical exercises. Online classroom training with the TUM video conferencing system.
The teaching materials such as scripts and worksheets are made available for download exclusively via the Moodle learning platform. These can be printed out independently if the print version is preferred.

Notes on the Central Prevention Testing Center (ZPP): The certificate can be used as proof within the framework of the minimum standard examination with regard to the provider qualification with a scope of 32 lessons or 1 ECTS in the required practical competence for the prevention principle "Stress and resource management" in accordance with the prevention guidelines (§ 20 SGBV). (Please note that this does NOT include a concept deposited with the ZPP)
For a comprehensive, professional trainer activity, it is advisable to obtain the Multimodal Sleep Promotion Trainer certificate in addition to the TUM Multimodal Stress and Resource Management Trainer certificate.
