Singapore: 19-20.9.2016. Prof. Henning Wackerhage was invited to 8th Sympoium of "Models of Physiology of Disease" at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He was very excited being invited as keynote speaker to the outstanding meeting on physiology and disease at the famous NUS. Singapore has attracted many leading researchers including Nobel laureate Prof. Sydney Brenner and p53 discoverer Prof. Sir David Lane. Also several Hippo researchers are in Singapore including Prof. Marius Sudol, who has first characterized YAP, the most important protein in the Hippo signal transduction network. Prof. Wackerhage´s talk was entitled: “The Hippo signal transduction network in skeletal muscle: from exercise to disease”. He presented current data suggesting a mechanism by which YAP might promote tumor progression in the muscle lineage plus introduced the plans to study Hippo in an exercise context. Prof. Wackerhage pointed out:“It was a great meeting and a unique chance to visit Singapore, one of the global cosmopolitan centres of life sciences research”.
