Development, implementation and evaluation of health-literate preschools in the Gesundheitsregionplus Landkreis Neu-Ulm (GeKoRegio-Bayern II)
The aim of the project (funding period: October 2025 to September 2026) is to develop a regional intervention concept to strengthen health literacy in “Gesundheitsregionplus Landkreis Neu-Ulm”. The concept should be practical, developed in a participatory manner, and adapted to the needs of preschools.
Background
The project builds on the outcomes of the previous project “HeLit-Preschools I” (2023–2025), which developed a guideline and a transfer concept and gathered initial data on the health literacy of educators and childcare institutions. The results highlighted a particular need for action in the areas of framework conditions, team competence, and exchange and networking.
Approach
HeLit- Preschools specifically addresses the needs identified in the previous project. The aim is to support preschools in their journey toward becoming health-literate institutions and to develop a practical intervention concept for this purpose.
To achieve this goal, initial group discussions are held with educational staff and managers. These serve to highlight key needs, barriers, and enabling factors in everyday preschool life. Based on these findings, the next step is to collaborate with participants to develop concrete intervention ideas designed to strengthen structures, processes, and team skills.
Through its partnership with Gesundheitsregionplus Landkreis Neu-Ulm, the project ensures that the concept is integrated into regional structures and addresses the specific needs of local preschools.
