The Department of Sport and Health Sciences considers diversity to be of special potential and promotes an educational and occupational environment based on appreciation and equal opportunity.
Therefore, the Faculty has been awarding the “Diversity Prize” for five years now, with the aim of strengthening diversity in all its facets and dimensions and especially in relation to research in sports and health sciences.
Eligible are all Bachelor, Master or PhD theses (up to grade 1.7) with a focus in diversity dimensions, which were submitted by students from the Department of Sport and Health Sciences in 2019. Submissions – including the supervisor’s report – need to be made by the research units or supervisors until January 10th, 2020 at the office of Diversity Officer Andrea Göttler (Room L318).
The Diversity Committee of the Faculty, consisting of Prof. Dr. Ansgar Schwirtz (Associate Professorship of Biomechanics in sports), Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Wacker (Chair of Sociology of Diversity), Managing Director Dr. Till Lorenzen, Gender Equality Officer Dr. Carolina Olufemi and Diversity Officer Andrea Göttler, will then revise all submissions and will make the decision regarding the prize-winners.
The price is endowed with up to 2.000 Euros and can be awarded to up to three persons. The “Diversity Prize” will then be presented during the Absolvia 2020 on February 21st, 2020 at Audimax.
