Under the motto "Sustainable Health", the third interdisciplinary "Future of Health" Summit will take place this year, organized by TUM Sport and Health for Life (Continuing education and training) of the Department Health and Sport Sciences. From October 11 to 13, 2023, leading international experts and scientists will discuss sustainable health structures' developments, challenges, and solutions in keynote speeches and panel discussions. As in previous years, the Bavarian Minister of State for Health and Care, Klaus Holetschek, will be the event's patron. The event is sponsored by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
"The third edition of the Future of Health Summit is all about scientific discourse and exchange on topics of sustainable health research. For this, we want to bring together the experts, leading scientists, as well as PhD students and students to talk about and critically discuss the current health challenges," explains Prof. Dr. Renate Oberhoffer-Fritz, Dean of the Department of Sport and Health Sciences and head of the Chair of Preventive Pediatrics.
We bear the responsibility for the future of humankind, society, and nature! With Agenda 2030, the United Nations has defined 17 global goals for sustainable development and a concept for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. This has not least to do with the ever-growing social challenges around climate crises, refugee flows, wars, or even poverty and famine.
The Summit focuses on some of these issues and discusses the fundamental changes inevitable for sustainable health and lifestyles. The event will focus on the following three key areas:
- October 11, 2023: Why sustainability matters in health
- October 12, 2023: Sustainable nutrition
- October 13, 2023: Chronobiology and health / Technical innovations and sustainable health
This year's external experts include Prof. Dr. Andrea Büttner, Executive Director of the Fraunhofer IVV and Alliance Fraunhofer Food; Stefan Vilsmeier, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Brainlab; Dr. Georg Schirrmacher, Managing Director, EIT Food Central GmbH; and Dr. Mark Schneider, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé. The Summit will be moderated by Dean Prof. Oberhoffer-Fritz and André Andonian, Member of the Advisory Board (Department Health and Sport Sciences), Chairman Emeritus North Asia, and Special Advisor - Senior Partner Emeritus, McKinsey & Company.
