The renowned University of Queensland (UQ) has awarded Prof. Dr. Jürgen Beckmann the title of "Honorary Professor". Prof. Dr. Aidan Byrne, Senior Vice President of the Australian university, has honored Prof. Beckmann in an official letter for his highly significant and unusual expertise in the field of sport psychology. A goal of the UQ, through its honorary professorships, is to obtain "closer connections with prominent personalities within the academic and professional disciplines", according to Prof. Byrne.
Prof. Beckmann considers the nomination to be "a very enjoyable appreciation of my academic work and an indication for the fact that my work is evaluated positively." During his career to date the full professor at the Chair for Sport Psychology has published nine technical monographs. In addition to this, he has published eight books and written 74 book contributions and more than 60 journal essays. Beckmann has also been quoted 4,759 times.
Officially, the nomination has been made by the School of Movement and Nutrition Science. In the Shanghai ranking, the faculty holds a rank of five world-wide, a top position in the field of sport sciences. The Department of Sport and Health Sciences of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), which ranks 32nd among the approximately 300 top-rated facilities world-wide, likewise holds a very good ranking.
"In the course of our honorary professorships, we will continue to further expand our relationship with Queensland. We will exchange employees and perform common research projects and provide publications," explains Beckmann the agenda. Thus, a second Leadership Forum will be carried out together with Prof. Dr. Cliff Mallet of the University of Queensland in the TUM Academy Center of Raitenhaslach during autumn (Oct. 15-20, 2018).
The honorary professorship is initially dated until June 30, 2021.
